Observation & Orientation Days
- Observe the Associate Teacher's instructional techniques, strategies, and methods for establishing effective class management and a positive environment, including ways to motivate and build rapport with students.
- Use time appropriately; Teacher Candidates should not complete assignments, do marking, or prepare their own lesson plans while observing during the instructional day.
- Seek understanding and clarification from the Associate Teacher on how to assist small groups or individuals.
- Seek the Associate Teacher's support and guidance regarding instructional techniques and strategies.
- Complete the Placement Orientation Guide Assignment and store in your Field Experience Portfolio.
- Teacher Candidates do not "teach" or plan lessons on Orientation and Observation Days!
- Attending field trips with the class during instructional time is permitted; any activities outside the regular instructional time or scheduled days are at the discretion of the Teacher Candidate.
- However, BEd program classes may not be missed to attend.
- There is no expectation that Teacher Candidates participate in co-curricular activities (clubs, teams, etc.), but they are free to do so at their own discretion.
