Evaluation of Practicum
The Interim Report
The Interim Report is an opportunity for the Teacher Candidate to receive feedback specific to the rubric upon which their Final Evaluation is made. It is an assessment for learning. Consideration for the Teacher Candidate's status as a developing teacher (and not that of an experienced educator) should be given when assessing.
Midway through the Teaching Block, the Associate Teacher will receive an email from our InPlace practicum system with a link to the Teacher Candidate Interim Report.
The Associate Teacher should enter and submit the Interim Report in InPlace by the report deadline. The report will then be reviewed and approved by the Advisor. Teacher Candidates will be able to view their Interim Report in InPlace once it is approved by the Advisor.
If the Teacher Candidate is experiencing difficulty:
- If a Teacher Candidate is struggling to meet the expectations, they will be supported by an Improvement Action Plan (IAP) created by the faculty Advisor with input from the Associate Teacher; this allows for specific direction to be given so that the Teacher Candidate may be successful.
- The IAP is dated and signed by both the Associate Teacher and the Teacher Candidate.
The Associate Teacher will not be put in the position of communicating failure of a Practicum to a Teacher Candidate.
The Final Report
The Practicum Final Report is an official document and will be used by Teacher Candidates when they are applying for teaching positions.
In the second last week of the Teaching Block, the Associate Teacher will receive an email from our InPlace practicum system with a link to the Teacher Candidate Final Report.
The Associate Teacher should enter and submit the Final Report in InPlace by the report deadline. The report will then be reviewed and approved by the Advisor and the Practicum Specialist. Teacher Candidates will be able to view their Final Report in InPlace once both approvals are complete. Please reach out to the Advisor if you need assistance completing the report.
