From October 26 to November 5, 2020, the Faculty of Education hosted the Sharing Excellence in Online and Blended Learning conference, part of the Teaching and Learning with Technology 2020 conference series. Designed to support educators facing the uncertainty of the 2020 - 2021 school year, this conference featured over 50 interactive, virtual workshops hosted by an incredible team of facilitatorsA student wearing headphones sits in front of an open laptop.

Workshops explored a range of subjects related to online and blended learning, including:

  • Teaching Health and Physical Education in a virtual environment.
  • Coding with MakeCode, Scratch, and other platforms.
  • Assessment strategies for online and blended learning.
  • Tools and technologies to facilitate online education.
  • Supporting wellness and social-emotional learning in virtual space.

A full list of workshops is available on the conference website.

The conference was well-attended, with over 275 participants from all levels of education working together to navigate new technologies, tools, and strategies to support learners in a variety of learning contexts. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to share our work and research with educators, not only from our local community but around the world! Beyond that, we were grateful for the challenges and experiences shared by the workshop participants, garnering support from the facilitators and attendees, and providing valuable insight into the kinds of professional learning and resources that are most needed during this time.
