2020 - BEd Teaching Awards Announced

The Faculty of Education at Ontario Tech University held it's annual culminating day for over 180 graduating teacher candidates. We are extremely proud of our faculty, staff, practicum team and students. They have not only survived but thrived in the face of a very challenging year.
At this event, we gave out two awards. The first was the Faculty of Education Technology Award for PJ and IS students. Numerous students were nominated, so the decision-making process was challenging. Four awards were given
Primary/Junior Division
- Zi-Xaun (Amy) Liou
- Alexsis Theodore
Intermediate/Senior Divison
- Joy Benjamin
- Devin Flynn (Intermediate-Senior Award)
Next was the Mary Anne O’Leary Leadership Award. Mary Anne O'Leary was an exceptional educator, outstanding colleague and more importantly a kind and compassionate person. In honour of Mary Anne, this award recognizes a student who demonstrates integrity, professionalism and innovation. Again, many nominations were received. Two winners emerged:
- Lianna Metauro
- Nicholas Rita
