The Center for Digital Innovation in Education (CDIE) Graduate Student Travel Grant

The Centre for Digital Innovation in Education (CDIE) Graduate Student Research Travel Grant provides funding to support graduate students in the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education programs who attend and present research at academic or professional conferences.

This grant supports knowledge mobilization, including presentations at professional conferences, of findings from projects conducted by Ontario Tech University graduate students. Graduate students must receive recommendations from their supervisor to receive such awards. Qualifying projects must have been conducted under the mentorship of an Ontario Tech University faculty member.

  • Value of Award

The committee will award up to $1500 maximum per student, even though the conference's cost may exceed that amount.

There are limited funds available to award each cycle. Awards are contingent upon the availability of funds, the number of applications, and projected costs of attendance. Applicants are required to submit a budget justification during the application process.

  • Eligibility

In order to apply for travel support, a graduate student must:

    • Be lead author on a presentation/paper at an academic conference that occurs within the appropriate cycle's timeframe.
    • Be enrolled as a master's or doctoral student at the time of the conference.

Due to the limited number of grants available, eligibility does not guarantee receipt of financial support.

  • Application Deadline

Applications will be accepted any time prior to the application deadlines noted below.

    • January 6, 2025, for conferences scheduled to take place between January 1, 2025 and August 30, 2025
  • How to Apply

Students may submit their application before or after the conference has taken place, but they must submit it in the appropriate application window as noted.
